Lawrence Rutherford
Larry Rutherford joined Yosemite Capital Management in December 2008. With over 25 years in the Financial Planning and investment management industry, he brings a wide perspective and depth of experience to the firm.
As a longstanding Certified Financial Planner™, Larry has worked with mid-level to large corporate retirement plans. He enjoys providing Plan Sponsors and participant’s with innovative guidance and planning.
Through his expertise, he helps plan sponsors reduce their fiduciary liability exposure and helps plan committees meet their ERISA responsibilities. He commits to providing retirement education workshops to educate employers on how to maintain successful retirement plans and how to use these plans as a cornerstone for building wealth that can lead to financial independence and a secure retirement.
He offers personalized service and support, while maintaining continuous contact with TPAs, CPAs, and administrators.
Larry serves as an integral part of YCM’s Investment Policy Committee.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Yosemite Capital Management, he was a Managing Director at Glencrest Investment Advisors. During his career at Glencrest, Larry managed the Orange County office for private client wealth management and employee benefits investment services.
Prior to Glencrest, Larry served as Vice President of Investment Services with Bank of America’s Employee Benefits department. During his tenure there, Larry developed an interest in the retirement planning process; specifically pension plan options designed for small business owners and high net worth individual clients.
Larry also owned his own firm, Ensign Financial Group located in Irvine, California for a period that covered more than ten years.
After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at Cal State University Fullerton, he pursued graduate studies through the University of Southern California while serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He has held the Certified Financial Planner™ designation since 1983 and has served on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Financial Planning Association. Larry has also been a longtime member of the Western Pension and Benefits Association in Orange County.
Larry is a native of So Cal and enjoys Golf and Sailing in his free time.
